Makeup Bag Makeover: New Makeup Favorites

Over the last two years I have been on a makeup hiatus. I am not the kind of girl who likes or wants to do her makeup every day, I find it extremely daunting and tedious to put on a full face of makeup every single day. I have never been the type of person who cannot leave the house without a full beat and lashes on- that just not me.

I also find it extremely important that I don’t wear full makeup every day due to my skin care routine and fear that I will break out from always wearing a full face.

From being out of the makeup game for quite some time, a lot of my products were old, used up, and expired- therefore, I decided to throw it all away, start from scratch, and replace the necessities needed for a full face of makeup.

It was around this time that I decided to start subscribing again to IPSY and Boxycharm so I could try new products that I normally wouldn’t reach for at the store. Sometimes, with these subscription boxes its very hit or miss, however, you can definitely score some rare and good finds. Many times I have gotten a product, put it to the side, forgotten about it only for it to resurface and I end up using it a few months later.

Most of the makeup now in my bag is actually from those monthly subscriptions which is pretty cool. I did end up having to make a few purchases (concealer, powder, foundation), but I also incorporated items in my makeup drawer that I had never used, or used once and decided to give it another chance.

Here are my latest makeup finds and favorites in my updated and improved makeup bag:

*As always, links to each product can be found in the product photo caption*

essence HELLO GOOD STUFF! Hydrate and Plump Primer Serum:

I have been wanting to try a plumping and priming serum for quite sometime, so I decided to give the essence brand a shot. I will be honest, it doesn’t do much in regards to plumping your skin but it definitely does hydrate your skin and makes it nice and tacky- perfect for priming. I have no complaints about this product at all, my makeup application went on flawlessly and lasted all day long.

L.A. Girl PRO.matte HD. high-definition long wear matte foundation:

I absolutely love L.A. Girl products, the quality for the price point is incredible. As I have gotten older I prefer to use non mattifying foundations as my skin is maturing due to the fact that matte products tend to exaggerate wrinkles and pores and can be very drying, at least for me. However, this foundation doesn’t seem to do that for me, my skin looks flawless even though it is mattified and has a very long wear time and I didn’t find my skin getting oily or having to do many touch ups.

Beware that this is a full coverage foundation and if you prefer something lighter this is not the product for you.

In the stores the shade range display isn’t great, however, on the L.A. Girl website you can find a more extensive shade range to choose from. I will warn you that the packaging makes the product inside look much darker than it actually is, so make sure you find the correct shade that matches your skin tone carefully.

L.A. Girl Pro.Conceal HD. high-definition concealer:

Another great product from L.A. Girl- the Pro.Concealer HD. high-definition concealer. I remember seeing a tweet saying this concealer can “take away your sins” and to be fair it really does. I love the brush application tip as it is super useful for carving out your brows or a quick touch up to your eyeliner. Again same rules apply as above with L.A. Girl products in store as well as the packaging. Purchase with caution.

L.A. Girl Pro.Concealer is also a full coverage product so if you prefer something lighter to conceal with I don’t suggest this product. If you are looking for a great, affordable, and effective concealer this is the perfect choice.

MAYBELLINE Fit Me Mineral Loose Finishing Powder:

Honestly, I haven’t ever been much of a fan of loose powders, however, I absolutely love the MAYBELLINE Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder! It is finely milled and has great coverage, whether you apply it with a brush or a beauty blender. I prefer to set my foundation with a loose powder and make sure that I really get the undereye and t-zone area set as those are the spots my makeup tends to break down the quickest.

L’Oreal Paris true match super-blendable pressed powder:

I have referenced this product once before in my “10 Products That Have Never Failed Me” post (you can find it here), and here I am still using it and talking about it. This is my all time, go to, pressed powder. It is perfect for touch ups on the go which is what I normally use it for, at any given time I will have one of these compacts in my purse when I am going out or have a full face of makeup on. Again, this product is more on the full coverage side, but it applies so flawlessly and keeps your makeup lasting all through the day.

l.ys Beauty No Limits Matte Bronzer:

I received the l.ys Beauty No Limits Matte Bronzer in a Boxycharm box not too long ago and I was so excited to try it. As I said I had gotten rid of pretty much all of my makeup and was in desperate need of a new bronzer. I really like this product a lot and use a dusting of it over my face to add some color and then use it for contouring. The product goes on beautifully and never looks muddy upon application and stays flawless all day long.

Rennelyn 1-Step Eyebrow Stamp Stencil Kit and Eyebrow Shaping Kit:

This Rennelyn 1-Step Eyebrow Stamp Stencil Kit is a freaking GEM. I was looking for an eyebrow stencil kit (on Amazon), as my eyebrows are microbladed and need a good touch up, and I just haven’t had time to do it. When I fill them in with an eyebrow pencil I have to go through so many steps just to get them even, even though the outline is still there, I struggle.

On a whim, I purchased this little kit, and it has been a lifesaver and a time saver. It comes with a various selection of stencils, my favorite is classic, and you just apply the stencil in place and use the sponge stamp to apply the powder- it is super simple. In the inside of the packaging of the sponge stamp, there is a little pan of powder that reloads on to the sponge when you put the cap back on it, which is a very clever and convenient idea!

I will warn you, it may take a few tries to get your groove using this product regarding the placement and maneuvering around the stencil with the stamp sponge but once you get the hang of it you are going to love your clean, crisp brows, I can guarantee it!

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Lacquer Eyeliner:

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Lacquer Eyeliner: Blackest Black (DISCONTINUED PRODUCT)

I have always preferred gel eyeliner in the pot more than I do an eyeliner pencil. I have noticed, at least in my search attempts, many of my old go to brands no longer make these types of gel eyeliners. For whatever reason, I got lucky and was able to find the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Lacquer Eyeliner in stock at Walgreens. As I looked up the item on the L’Oreal website to provide a link, unfortunately, it stated that this is a discontinued product. If you would like to try this product and see it at any store such as Walgreens, CVS, or Ulta, snag it, because after whatever is left on the shelves is gone, this product is no more!

PAGOW 24pc Eyeliner Eyeshadow Stencils:

Another Amazon gem I found is the PAGOW 24 piece Eyeliner Eyeshadow stencils. I have never been great at a good winged liner, and not being privy to the makeup game for such a long time, I was super rusty at applying eyeliner. I had come across these stencils and I decided to give them a shot. The package comes with several eyeliner styles and shadow styles to try. Again, this is something you want to practice with a few times before perfecting the art of using these stencils, as the placement of the sticker on your eyes can be tricky and come out uneven. It is definitely a nice item to have in your makeup arsenal and is extremely convenient and easy to use once you’ve got it down pat.

MAC Single Eyeshadow- Carbon:

I’m not going to lie, I have actually had this shadow for quite some time, yet never used it. Going through my makeup drawer, I decided to keep it and I am very glad I did. I have been recently using this shadow to set my eyeliner when using the PAGOW stencils and it really helps keep the liner stay put, gives it more pigmentation, as well as increasing the longevity of the eyeliner’s wear time.

stila HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara:

I received the stila HUGE Extreme Lash Mascara in a Boxycharm box back in January and I have to say I really love trying out new mascaras and having a nice variation in my collection to choose from. I threw the Extreme Lash in my makeup bag when I went to NYC to try it out and I have to say its pretty decent. Its not my favorite mascara I’ve ever tried and to be honest there was some crumbling, however, its not horrible. I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to purchase this mascara again, but I do intend to continue using it.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush- Feisty:

The Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in the shade Feisty has been my favorite for a very long time. I would be lying to you if I said I remember when I received this or through what subscription service but this blush is so beautiful. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the shade Feisty on the Tarte website, I did, however, find it on the IPSY website, therefore, I am thinking this was a limited edition shade. Don’t worry though, all of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes are incredible, very pigmented look gorgeous on the skin. Very often you can find a variation of five or so different shades in a gift set from Ulta or Sephora for a very good deal, and I highly suggest should you ever come across one of those giftsets, you snag it up ASAP because they do go fast.

NARS Blush- Orgasm:

Oh my word, back in 2011 if you ever told me I would one day own a NARS Orgasm blush I would have died. I remember watching YouTube videos and everyone was talking about NARS Orgasm blush and the NARS Turkish Delight lip gloss. I would look high and low for dupes of both the blush and lip gloss all of the time– it was like my all time goal to own the actual product or find a dupe close enough to it.

To be one hundred percent transparent with you, my best friend Chelsea gave me this blush in the mini size for some reason or another and my, broke a** early 20’s excitement flooded back all over again.

This truly is a beautiful blush. It gives you just the right pop of color, has a little sheen to it, and is buildable. To me, this is one of those classic shades that anyone can rock.

touch in Sol Pretty Filter Glowdient Makeup Palette:

I received this gorgeous palette in yet, another Boxycharm box, and I have to say I really like it a lot! You can use this palette for multiple purposes such as a body shimmer, a brow bone highlight, an eyeshadow or a cheek, nose, and cupid’s bow highlighter. Its a nice product to have in your makeup bag due to the fact that you can find many uses for it. The colors are very nice and I really like how there are five different shade ranges within the palette depending on what you feel like doing.

benefit The POREfessional: Super Setter:

Again, received in a subscription, again, couldn’t tell you which one or when, however, this little trial size bottle is extremely helpful to have on hand, especially when traveling, or just throwing it in your makeup bag. I have used this several times now and it really does keep your makeup lasting around the clock. My only complaint would be that the spritz on the bottle isn’t very pleasant, the only way I can describe it is that the spray top doesn’t disburse greatly. It kind of all projects into one spot, so make sure you are not holding it too close to your face when setting your makeup with this bad boy.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil- Peyote:

I have had the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in the shade Peyote for a few months now. I actually purchased this in conjunction with The Urban Decay “What’s Your Sign” matte lipstick for my wedding day. I didn’t touch it until my actual wedding day and hadn’t used it since, so again, while packing for my New York trip I threw this bad boy in my makeup bag and was on my way. I really like this lip pencil because it goes on so smoothly and doesn’t dry your lips out. This is a very beautiful shade and honestly, I fill my whole lips in with it. It lasts a very long time and is super flattering and not too much. It gives you just the right amount of color on your lips and is on the more neutral side. Pair it with a nice lip gloss and you are good to go!

Too Faced Lip Injection Maximum Plump Extra Strength Lip Plumper:

I am obsessed with the Too Faced Lip Injection Lip Plumper’s and have been using them for years. I will warn you it does sting just a little bit, but it works. You get a generous amount of plump using this product. After Christmas I went on Sephora’s website to see what kind of deals they had on giftsets and I snagged a cute little lip shaped tin with three mini’s of the different Too Faced Lip Injection Lip Plumper’s in it so I will be set on them for awhile! A good tip is to put this on prior to using any other lip products, such as a liner, to give your lips time to plump up, if you don’t your liner doesn’t stay put in the place you originally applied it, and no one wants that.

I hope you enjoyed this post and find the reviews and tips helpful! Let me know in the comments if you like any of these products or plan or have been eyeing them! I love engaging with you all and appreciate your support!

Nostalgia Time!- Makeup Products I Used In High School

Napoleon Dynamite 2004

Oh, high school… what can I say?

My high school years spanned from 2003-2007, what a time to be a teenager… we had Myspace, Napoleon Dynamite had just come out, took our digital cameras with us everywhere, uploaded our photos to Photobucket, downloaded our music from Napster and burned mixed CD’s for our besties. We wore airbrushed tips on our acrylic nails, had chunky blonde and red highlights in our hair, and of course – the Juicy Couture tracksuit.

I decided to do a fun post looking back on the past and what makeup products I used back when I was a teenager with no YouTube beauty gurus teaching me how to do my makeup.

Let me tell you, it was a bit difficult trying to find some of these products as they have been discontinued, but I tried my best, dug around a bit, and I think I was able to nail it down pretty well.

So, without further without further ado, here is my every day look back in high school:

Legitimately, so embarrassing.

*CLEARLY,* I had not discovered Crest White Strips yet.

Disclaimer: I never said the quality of digital cameras back in the day took the best photos, but I tried my best to adjust the photos as needed to show the “main look” I wore EVERY SINGLE DAY.

So, here are the products I looked to acheieve this amazing, purple, heavy on the eyeliner, every day look:

Step One: Start off with a blue eyeshadow base

Honestly, I didn’t even know that using a base was an actual makeup trick.

The base I would use was from Avon that my mom bought me for Christmas one year:

I couldn’t find the exact crème eyeshadow from Avon, because from what I remember it was in a tube, this was the closest thing that I could find to what the actual product was this. However, the color in the right photo seems to be more accurate (a powder baby blue) than the color in the left photo. I believe I am right to assume that this product has been discontinued.

Application technique, you ask? Use your damn fingers because you won’t be getting any makeup brushes until your late teen years.

Step two: Apply that eyeshadow

My every day, go to eyeshadow was CoverGirl Eye Enhancers Eye Shadow #570 in the shade Violete Frappe

CoverGirl can you bring this back, please?

Application technique? Use that little black sponge applicator that came with the package.

Yep, this one:

Cringe.

I think at the time, I had one makeup brush, it was an eyeshadow brush that I used for my under eye concealer, so it was crucial to use the applicator in the eyeshadow package.

Step three: Overline your eyes top and bottom:

My eyeliner of choice, for many years, was CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus in black

I remember this eyeliner going on super smooth and loved that it had an “eraser” as well. It had the twist up self sharpener, but if you let the eyeliner get too long, it would break off on your eyelid while trying to apply it, which is, of course, is never pleasant.

Step four: Apply mascara as little as possible without getting close to the lash line

Now, why wouldn’t I use Maybelline Great Lash Mascara?

With much confidence, I think I can say that most of you had this bad boy in your makeup bag or Kaboodle at one point or another.

Step five: Conceal those under eyes

My product of choice was CoverGirl Fresh Complexion Concealer

I believe I first acquired this from my grandmother when she accidentally bought the wrong shade, and it was too light for her complexion. I distinctly remember the accidentally twisting the blue cap too hard putting it back on, and it cracked, at that point I stopped using the doe foot applicator and started using an eyeshadow brush to apply the product to my dark under eye circles.

Step Six: Paint that face

Another CoverGirl product here, CoverGirl Clean Makeup Foundation

NOT my shade.

Foremost- 145 warm beige was definitely not the shade that I was using, I am very fair skinned, so I would have been going with something way lighter than this, however, it was the only picture I could find whilst digging around on the internet, but you get the point. I think that the only reason I used this was because my Mom did as well, and if it’s good enough for Mom, it’s good enough for me.

Application technique? Rub that sh*t in all over your face with your fingers, that’s how. Do you think I had access to some kind of Beauty Blender in the early 2000’s- hell naw.

Step Seven: Powder that face-all day long

CoverGirl CG Smoothers Pressed Powder

I can still smell this.

At this point I’m just going to let you all know, this is not sponsored by CoverGirl and I think, at the time, I may have thought that CoverGirl was the only brand of makeup that existed.

I can literally still smell this to this very day, and I loved the way it smelled for some reason – does CoverGirl Pressed Powder still have that scent to it in present day? Can I get a candle with that scent?

Application technique? You use that powder puff inside until all the oils on your face make it greasy and hardens the powder, by that time you’ll have hit pan, and it’ll be time to by a new compact anyway.

Step eight: Add a peach blush wherever you think it’s supposed to go

My choice of blush was CoverGirl (of course) Cheekers in any peach tone they had at the time, I’m not exactly sure if this was the actual shade I used, but it is close enough

Application technique: Use the brush they gave you, dummy.

That concludes my step into the way, way, back machine to a really sh*tty time in my life-the high school years.

What made it shitty? -Not just this makeup and my lack of knowledge of makeup application, but just the whole experience itself. From not having many friends, not being able to connect with others, to just growing up in general, high school was just not a fun experience for me and I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I was never into sports or extracurricular activities, I didn’t have many interests, and to be honest, and fair, I wasn’t really an outgoing person at all. I never went to any football games, and only attended homecoming my freshman year because my older cousin and best friend were seniors. Surprisingly, I DID actually attend prom but with a very small group of girlfriends. If given the opportunity to go back in time to any point in my life, I would never choose my high school years – EVER.

What were you guys like in high school? Did you love your high school years or wish they never happened? Leave me a comment with your experiences, I would love to hear them!

My Favorite Soap & Glory Products

I couldn’t even begin to tell you when I discovered Soap & Glory Products, I remember initially seeing this brand at Walgreens and Target and was drawn to their cute packaging and clever product names-however, it took me awhile to catch on to how good their products actually are.

I was looking for a highly rated face wash that would be my “go to” around 2016 or so, and everything I researched kept bringing me back to the Face Soap and Clarity Face Wash. It was a bit pricey for me at the time $12.00 (which strangely, the price has remained the same to this day) but I decided to invest and give it a whirl. Within a few weeks I was hooked, and I have been ever since.

After using the Face Soap and Clarity Face Wash, I started to notice the brand a bit more. The next Soap & Glory product I purchased was the Smoothie Star Body Butter, which I was introduced to in a Tati Westbrook video on YouTube- and no one is going to not try something affordable that the self-proclaimed “Glam Life Guru” suggests, so I went out and bought it.

My collection and interest in the brand spiraled from there and now here I am, years later, still not disappointed in what Soap & Glory has to offer. Yes, there have been some flops on my behalf-products that just haven’t worked for me, but the consistency with this brand has been impeccable, and I plan to continue buying their brand for years to come.

I would like to share with you the products that I have continuously bought over and over and some new ones that I have discovered recently, I highly suggest if you are interested in this brand to try it out and see what you think for yourselves!

Skin Care

  1. No Clogs Allowed Deep Pore Clearing Mask: $10.99 – This is a new product to me and I have to say I do like it! The consistency kind of feels like a silicone base and warms up on your skin after application. It does feel as though I have seen a difference in the pores on my nose as well as chin area. Overall, I like this product a lot!
  2. Scrub Your Nose In It Two-Minute T-Zone Detox Scrub: $12.00 – Imagine a putty like AJAX powder cleaner on your face, same smell, and gritty, but not damaging. This product is super refreshing on your T-Zone and whole face, and it really gives nice and polished fresh face when used.
  3. Face Soap & Clarity Vitamin C Facial Wash: $12.00 – My absolute favorite face wash of all time, it is super refreshing, clarifying, brightening and does not dry out my skin. I have been using this product for years, and it has never failed me. It is for all skin types, so I highly suggest picking up a bottle and trying it out for yourself!

Body Care

  1. Buff and Ready Coconut Body Scrub: $13.99 – I absolutely love all things coconut scented, so of course I had to pick this up when I first saw it on the shelves. The grit of this body scrub is low, so it definitely does not dry out your skin or cause further damage. My skin is extremely smooth after every use. It is the perfect body scrub to use prior to shaving as well.
  2. Scrub For Joy Body Polish: $11.99 – I like this body scrub, however, I do not like it as much as the Buff and Ready Coconut Body Scrub. This scrub certainly has a thicker and grittier consistency. If you need a good exfoliation, this is a great product, but it is not something I would suggest using multiple times a week, especially if you are prone to dry skin.
  3. Smoothie Star Lightly Whipped Body Buttercream: $15.00 – Okay, this is my favorite body lotion of all time. It is thick without being too thick, it doesn’t just sit on top of the skin and feel greasy, it does not contain as much alcohol as other scented body lotions and always instantly hydrates my skin. The smell is delicious, however, it lingers all day long, so if that is something that bothers you, keep that into consideration prior to purchasing.
  1. Hand Food Hand Cream: $8.00 – The Hand Food Hand Cream is a new product to me, I actually only tried it for the first time last winter. I was definitely sleeping on this hand cream! I rarely even like to use hand cream as it always leaves my hands feeling greasy and gross-not this one. The lotion soaks right into the skin and damages dried and chapped hands quickly, which is exactly the kind of hand lotion I need living in the Midwest during the winter time.
  2. Heel Genius Foot Cream: $10.00 – Heel Genius Foot Cream is also new to me! I purchased it for the first time over the summer as a recommendation from my friend, who knows I absolutely love Soap & Glory products. My heels were extremely dry due to pedicures and wearing sandals- I used this after showering and immediately put socks on and the next day my heels were as good as new!

Face Products

  1. One Heck Of A Blot Instant Perfecting Primer: $14.00 – One of my biggest complaints about applying foundation is being able to see my pores-of course the best way to fix that is with a great primer. One Heck Of A Blot is an amazing product to help achieve that flawless foundation application, does not leave your skin oily, and increases the longevity of your makeup. If you have oily skin
  2. Sexy Mother Pucker Pillow Plump XXL- Extreme Volume Gloss – This is an awesome moisturizing plumping lip gloss! A lot of lip plumpers seem to leave my lips dry, chapped, and on fire-not this one. I used this constantly after getting lip fillers as it was super soothing and has a nice thick consistency without being too thick.

Newest Soap & Glory Purchases

  1. In The Bright Of Day Vitamin C Gel Cream: $13.99 – I’ve used this gel cream twice now and so far so good, no complaints. I haven’t used it consistently enough to say whether I see any type of results, but I will definitely keep you all posted if I do!
  2. The Fab Pore 3 -in- 1 Oil Control Serum: $18.00 – Honestly, I just received this product from a Target order last week and have yet to try it, so I can’t really give an opinion / review. Sorry guys! If it turns out to be great, I’ll feature it in a future post! 🙂
  3. Thirst Aid Hydrating Aqua Gel: $13.99 – Living in the Midwest during the winter, one’s skin tends to take a beating. I am always on the hunt for different moisturizers- and I am going to be honest, this isn’t the one for me, and I am kind of bummed about it. It left my face feeling sticky- I used it 2 different times trying to make myself like it and… I just can’t.

Soap & Glory products can be found at:

  1. Target
  2. Ulta
  3. Walgreens
  4. Soap and Glory US website
  5. Soap and Glory UK website

Depending on where you purchase Soap & Glory products, prices will vary. Different stores may have different promotions going on at any given time such as buy one, get one 50% off or the Soap & Glory USA/UK websites have may have promo codes running as well.

Do any of you like Soap & Glory products as much as I do? What are your favorite products? Are there any products you have used that I haven’t mentioned that you recommend I try? Let me know in the comments!

10 Products That Have Never Failed Me

We all have those products we reach for and replace constantly, knowing that they never fail us- these are my ten ride or die, affordable, drug store products that I have been using for the past decade (or more) that have yet to fail me:

Revlon Color Stay 24 Hour Foundation:

I have tried so many foundations in my lifetime, but Revlon Color Stay Foundation is my ABSOLUTE number one go to. This is one product I have never ceased to keep repurchasing. It goes on like an absolute dream, is perfect for my combination dry/oily skin, and never breaks down on me around my nose or T zone area. It is so easy to work with and paired with a great powder, you have an amazing combination that is affordable, works well, and will last you well into the night.

L’OrĂ©al Paris True Match Super-Blendable Powder:

L’OrĂ©al understood the assignment when creating this pressed powder. It is super full coverage-which is one of the main things that I look for when choosing products. You can apply this to your skin as is or pair it with a foundation, either way you will get a silky smooth look that isn’t cakey. You can also build this powder up to conceal dark under eyes and look like you have a full face of powder and foundation. It is beautiful when paired with the Revlon Color Stay 24 hour foundation, creating a bulletproof combination for your foundation.

Garnier Skin Active Clearly Brighter Sunscreen Anti-Sun Damage Daily Moisturizer:

The first time I ever tried this product was in 2016 Beautycon x Candee Johnson box and I have been OBSESSED ever since. Back then, my skin was super oily, and I was very hesitant to even use a moisturizer if I didn’t have the absolute dire need to. I felt as though all moisturizers just sat on top of my skin, making it even oilier, and I couldn’t find the right product to fit my skin care needs. I was even hesitant to try this product after receiving it, and I remember it sitting around for quite some time until I actually tried it. I found that it was lightweight and absorbed right into my skin with little effort, and was not in the least bit oily. I was super bummed because I thought that Garnier stopped making this product because I could no longer find it- I did an Amazon search and ordered what I thought was comparable to the original product. Turns out they had just changed the packaging, and I am one happy girl once more!

Garnier Skin Active Clearly Brighter Anti-Puff Eye Roller:

Dark, tired, under eye circles seem to run in the family, my dad, brother, and I all have the same problem, we look like we haven’t slept in days. During preparation for my wedding I tried numerous under eye creams, serums, and products to try and get rid of these dark circles, this one does the trick. I put it on under my eyes every night, faithfully, and it has SIGNIFICANTLY reduced the dark under eye circles. A good tip is to put it in a cool spot, such as a skin care fridge, and it feels so refreshing upon application. This product also lasts a very long time and is a great value for the price.

L’OrĂ©al Paris Voluminous Original Mascara:

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love trying new mascaras, however, the L’OrĂ©al Paris Voluminous Original is my number one go to. Any time I am in need of a new mascara, I find myself repurchasing this one. Not only does it give my lashes the volume boost I need, it is never flaky or clumpy, and the applicator is a dream, not too big, not too small, and packed with just the right amount of product. I have never experienced any smearing with this mascara, and the longevity of the wear time is incredible for a drug store product.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Multi-Use Concealer: I was first turned on to this product by YouTuber Tati Westbrook. The sponge applicator is amazing and goes on flawlessly. The right about of product comes out every time and the sponge never dries up or gets crusty. I have also seen many tutorials of people using this product in darker shades for easy contour as well. You can just dot it on your face (kind of like a bingo stamp) and blend it into your foundation. I have not used this for contour myself, however, I do plan to try it!

GlamGlow Supertoner: I am finding the older I get, my skin care needs have changed. What was once oily skin has now turned into dry and sometimes combination skin, and the GlamGlow products I used to love, such as the Supermud and the Youthmud masks, are just too harsh on my skin. The one product I have continued to replenish in my skin care stock is, however, the Supertoner. As with all GlamGlow products, they tend to be on the pricey side and the Supertoner is no exception, however, it works SO WELL, it is worth the price. It is described on the GlamGlow website as “An exfoliating acid and activated charcoal toner for acne-prone skin that instantly clarifies and unclogs pores for visibly clearer, smoother and more radiant skin.” I put this on to a cotton square and my face instantly feels minty, cool, and refreshed. This toner will get even the toughest bits of makeup and oil off of your face after a night out, even when you have used a makeup wipe and remover. Highly recommended!

No7 Radiance+ Daily Energising Exfoliating Cleanser: First, let me say that any of the products in the No7 Radiance+ line are amazing, but this one is a gem. This face wash is gentle while still exfoliating, smells like oranges, and leaves your skin looking brighter and smooth with a wonderful, refreshing clean feeling. Many exfoliating face washes feel as though you’ve completely stripped your skin, and the fragrance leaves your face feeling dry and tight-not this one. I switch up face washes regularly, according to my needs, and this one always remains in my arsenal.

Soap & Glory Face Soap and Clarity Vitamin C Facial Wash: I have been using this product for the past seven years and I don’t know that I will ever stop! This is my everyday, go to, face wash, and I had used it exclusively for many years. This product has been a game changer for me. The scent is so clean, the exfoliating beads are not too harsh, and it gives your face a cool and minty tingle after use. I have never experienced dryness or excessive oil production after use, and the value for the cost is amazing-this product lasts a very long time. If you are in the market for a go to, every day, face wash, I highly recommend going to your local Target or Walgreens and picking up a bottle. IT IS A GAME CHANGER.

Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Lightly Whipped Body Buttercream: This body butter will always be my number one go to body lotion. I have completely outgrown lotions that are too fragranced leaving your skin dry and parched. This body butter cream is thick, yet settles into the skin quickly, is not oily, and leaves your skin moisturized and feeling quenched. The smell is AMAZING, however, lasts ALL DAY, so if that is something you are sensitive to, I would advise you to buy with caution. However, the fragrance does not have the drying effect that body lotions such as Bath and Body Works products have due to the amount of alcohol used in production. Overall, the results are instant, and this product is a win in my book!

Welcome!

Welcome, everyone, to Ella Eris Beauty- a lifestyle and beauty blog! I am so glad we have found each other!

I initially started Ella Eris Beauty back in 2018 with high hopes and big dreams. Ultimately, and unfortunately, I decided after almost a year to close up shop. I had no clue where my life was headed and thought that maybe my aspirations were more than I could handle at that particular time in my life. My mental health and personal life was in a very rough spot, so I decided, over everything, that I needed to put my hopes and dreams behind me and focus on my career and wellbeing.

After closing up shop I always thought about what I had left behind, a constructive outlet, my creative process, my sense of pride and accomplishment that blogging had given me. It was more than just a pastime project, it was an actual passion project that I left behind in the dust… It was only on a whim one day that I considered giving blogging another shot. Easily, I could have taken to more popular platforms such as YouTube or TikTok, but I feel as though the communities on those platforms can be so toxic. The blogging community feels like such a more open and inviting place, based on my experience, and jives better with my vibe all together.

This time around, I plan to focus on creating content that is more valuable than just makeup and beauty related tips and advice. Even though my blog is Ella Eris Beauty, suggesting that beauty is the only topic I will be focusing on isn’t the case at all. Overall, I want this to be a safe environment where I can share my own struggles with confidence, self-care, mental health, and much more with all of you.

I have so many great things to share with all of you and I can’t wait for your feedback and suggestions as I am always open to them. I hope 2022 brings us all the things our heart desire, and that we can all put aside a few minutes of our hectic lives to take care of ourselves.
