Skin Care Products I Can’t Stop Reaching For

Living in the Midwest, I constantly have to change up my skin care products based on what the weather is- from the dry winters, to the humid, sweltering summers, it’s difficult to have a set skin care routine all year round. Due to these constant changes, I have a variety of skin care products and essentials that I use based on my current skin care needs.

Right now, we are dealing with the dry winter weather here in Michigan, causing dry chapped lips, wind burned skin, and dry skin in general. Keeping up with a skin care routine can also be an issue when dealing with the elements, however, I have recently found some great combinations in my skin care arsenal to help beat the winter dryness while testing and trying new products.

Here are my current skin care products I keep finding myself reaching for:

Pacifica Moisture Rehab Rose & Coconut Makeup Removing Wipes:

I came across this gem in the clearance section at Marshall’s- These makeup wipes are super hydrating and moisturizing, I have been using them in the morning to cleanse my face as well as at night prior to my skin care routine, they are extremely refreshing and nourishing. I am really hoping that Pacificia isn’t discontinuing these wipes since I did find them at Marshall’s and when a product is potentially being discontinued it usually ends up at discount stores like TJ Maxx and Marshalls.

Glamglow Brightmud:

Okay, so I had decided I had outgrown GlamGlow products all together. I had been using them for the last seven years, and I just felt as though the products that used to work for me were just becoming too harsh for my skin the older I’ve gotten. I had run out of the Thirstymud and wanted to give it another try due to the cold weather drying out my skin. Furthermore, I placed an order online and was given the option to pick a few samples – so I decided to try Brightmud, and it turns out I love it! It is very nice an exfoliating and scrubs away all the dead skin cells and any other grime on the face and gives you a beautiful glow. I wouldn’t recommend using it every day as the exfoliants could potentially dry out the skin-using it as a nice little treatment once or twice a week works fine for me.

Glamglow Thirstymud:

I absolutely love Glamglow Thirstymud- it is the perfect treatment to beat dry skin all winter long. It is a creamy texture and is transparent, it’s so nice and soothing on the skin. I’ve paired this mask with hydrating sheet masks on top of it, as well as other masks such as First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask. Although it works just fine on its own, anything you pair with it gives Thirstymud the extra little oomph it needs to help hydrate and keep your skin healthy and glowing.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask:

In previous posts, I have mentioned how much I love First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask and how much it has helped my skin. This product is like gold to me! It is a little weird texture-wise when you put it on your skin as it actually does have bits of oatmeal in it, which is my only turn-off with this product, but otherwise it is incredible. I had badly damaged my skin a few months ago by falling asleep with a facial mask on, and it burnt my skin into oblivion. I used this mask twice daily for two days and my skin was repaired within a few days. Not only that, but I have also fallen asleep with this mask on and no troubles whatsoever, only hydrated and smooth skin the next day. Likewise, I don’t suggest using this product overnight, but if it happens, your skin should be just fine the next day.

First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Purifying Mask With Red Clay:

I am not usually a fan of peel off masks, I don’t like the stickiness of the drying process, and it always seems like I can never apply them evenly and there are always globby areas that take forever to dry. Maybe it was the products I was using, or I have finally perfected the technique of applying peel off masks, but lately, I have found myself reaching for this mask every other day. My skin is so clear and radiant after using this mask, and it never dries out my skin or causes breakouts. Highly recommended for skin maintenance, 2-3 times a week.

Watermelon Dew All Over Serum:

To be honest, for the longest time I had been sleeping on Tony Moly Watermelon Dew All Over Serum. I had a sample from some kind of beauty box subscription and found it while organizing some skin care samples I had sitting in a box and decided to use it. I was actually blown away, this serum is amazing. It is so hydrating and moisturizing. I love that it is not sticky after application and soaks right into the skin. It has a lovely watermelon fragrance that isn’t too harsh. I ended up buying a full size bottle right away, and I have been using it every night. I highly recommend trying this serum out as well as other products from the Tony Moly line-they are incredible.

Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Memory Sleep Mask:

Okay, so let’s face it, Erno Laszlo is a very high-end luxury skin care brand and I would never pay full price for a product like this, however, I found the Hydra-Therapy Memory Sleep Mask at TJ Maxx for $10, and I knew I had to have it. This Hydra Therapy mask’s consistency is so neat, it’s like a whipped texture, not too creamy, and is so soft – it melts like butter right into the skin and of course, is not sticky on the skin. My skin is so smooth and soft in the morning after every use, I love it! Run, don’t walk, to TJ Maxx if you want to try this product because it is selling out quickly!

Glamglow Bright Illuminating Anti-Fatigue Eye Cream:

Dark under eye circles have always been a curse in my life. I have tried and own so many great products that have significantly reduced my dark circles, however, lately, I have been reaching for Glamglow Bright Illuminating Anti-Fatigue Eye Crème every single night. It is a pretty nice consistency, a little thick, but not too thick. I apply this every night with an eyeshadow brush under my eyes and sometimes under my brow area. It’s very moisturizing and helps maintain healthy looking under eyes. I give this product a ten out of ten – worth every penny.

What are some of your skin care go to’s for winter skin? Leave me some recommendations in the comments! I would love to try some of your favorites!

Post Holiday Skin Care Rehab

We all know that the holidays can be quite disruptive to our normal, every day routines. Christmas comes and goes, followed by that odd period of time before New Year’s Eve where you don’t even remember what day it is. I think it’s safe to say we’ve all been there.

Normally, I have a very comprehensive skin care routine based off of what my skin care concerns or needs are on that particular day. I implemented this self-care regimen into my life in early November, and I find that it significantly has improved my mental health and self-confidence. I love the act of multiple steps and trying new products and combinations to see what products compliment each other.

Over the last week or so, I’ve been caught up in the shuffle of working 50 hours a week, preparing and celebrating the holidays. Needless to say, my skin care regimen got lost in that shuffle as well.

I didn’t notice any significant breakouts or area of concern by not performing my usual regimen, but I did feel like my skin looked dull, and some areas were dry and flaky. I decided tonight is the night I am going to do a good detox, a skin care rehab, if you will.

I started by taking a nice hot bath, one of my favorite ways to relax and decompress. Steam is one of the best ways to open up your pores, so I relaxed a little and then got down to business.

I first used a clean, warm washcloth, to wipe any excess dirt and oil from my skin. I then went in with my Sonic Facial Cleansing Brush (on the highest setting) with Soap and Glory’s Face Soap & Clarity Vitamin C Facial Wash and gave my skin a good scrub all over, focusing on getting all areas of my face, neck, and behind the ears. I rinsed off the suds, first with warm water, and then wiped my face with a cloth to get any excess soap off. Lastly, I patted my face with a clean towel to dry.

The second choice I made was to go in with a toner to really make sure that any impurities were removed from my face. I used the GlamGlow SuperToner on a cotton round and went over my whole face, including behind the ears.

Next, I decided to do a bit of a detox triple combo mask using samples I had of GlamGlow’s PowerMud Dual Cleanse Treatment as well as the GlamGlow FlashMud Brightening Treatment. I also mixed in some of Formula 10.0.6’s BE BERRY BRIGHT EXFOLIATING MUD MASK. I mixed the three products together and applied generously all over my face with a flat foundation brush. I let it sit on my skin until it was dry and then wiped off with warm water and a hot washcloth, then patted my face dry with a clean towel.

I then decided to go in with the Mario Badescu Whitening Mask which, per the Mario Badescu website, is “packed with antioxidant-rich ingredients. Addresses discoloration and dehydration. Reveals brighter, smoother, more radiant skin.” I love this product so much! I only use it on special occasions as it is highly coveted in my skincare collection. It has such a clean, beautiful smell, that isn’t over powering, and doesn’t dry out your skin. I let this sit on my skin until dry and then wiped off with a warm washcloth and of course patted my face dry with a clean towel.

So you are probably starting to wonder if my face started to feel like it had been cast in cement. The answer is, yes. With good judgment, I picked the only product I trust for a good healing process-First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask. The only way I can describe this product to you is it’s like putting conditioner on your face. The Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask saved my skin, recently, after a little concoction went horribly wrong. I had fallen asleep in a- not so great for you, watermelon face mask and the next day once I realized what had happened-it was far too late. My skin looked as though I had a wicked sunburn and to top it all off I started to break out as well. Luckily, for me, T.J.Maxx was carrying some First Aid Beauty products and I loaded up on the Oatmeal Mask. I went through TWO AND A HALF BOTTLES, repairing the damage I had caused to my poor face. This stuff is an absolute game changer not only for that little blunder but for the dry winters here in the Midwest. I highly recommend trying this product if you are suffering from dry, damaged skin. A great tip is to keep this product in a cool place such as a fridge to give and cooling, and relieving, effect to painful skin irritation.

After I washed off the Oatmeal Mask, I applied a generous amount of Asterwood Hyaluronic Acid serum. This brand, by far, is my favorite! I found it on Amazon, and I am so impressed by how concentrated it is. A lot of hyaluronic acid serums seem to be very watery, however the consistency of the Asterwood brand is amazing-they hit the right mark between too thin and too watery, and I highly suggest trying this product out if you are in the market for it.

Lastly, I went in with my holy trifecta of “luxury” skin care. I started out with Marc Jacobs YOUTHQUAKE, Erno Laszlo Firm and Lift Firmarine Lifting Serum, and finished it off with Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Memory Sleep Mask. When used together, these products make my skin glow with radiance. Being a person who has used many “cheap” skin care products-you can instantly see the difference when buying high-end products. If I had never run across these during the holiday season at discount stores like T.J.Maxx and Marshalls, I would have never even considered trying them. My big dilemma currently is, what am I going to do now that they are all sold out?! Ugh!!!

In my final step of my Skin Care Rehab, I finished off my Garnier Skin Active Clearly Brighter Anti-Puff Eye Roller and fished it off with the Goodal Green Tangerine Under Eye Vitamin C Gel Patches on my under eyes.

Yes, it was a fascinating journey tonight, trying to get my skin care regimen back on track, however, it definitely feels good to get back to a place of self-care.

Do you follow any strict skin care regimens? Are you faithful to skin care on a daily basis? Let me know in the comments!

10 Products That Have Never Failed Me

We all have those products we reach for and replace constantly, knowing that they never fail us- these are my ten ride or die, affordable, drug store products that I have been using for the past decade (or more) that have yet to fail me:

Revlon Color Stay 24 Hour Foundation:

I have tried so many foundations in my lifetime, but Revlon Color Stay Foundation is my ABSOLUTE number one go to. This is one product I have never ceased to keep repurchasing. It goes on like an absolute dream, is perfect for my combination dry/oily skin, and never breaks down on me around my nose or T zone area. It is so easy to work with and paired with a great powder, you have an amazing combination that is affordable, works well, and will last you well into the night.

L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Powder:

L’Oréal understood the assignment when creating this pressed powder. It is super full coverage-which is one of the main things that I look for when choosing products. You can apply this to your skin as is or pair it with a foundation, either way you will get a silky smooth look that isn’t cakey. You can also build this powder up to conceal dark under eyes and look like you have a full face of powder and foundation. It is beautiful when paired with the Revlon Color Stay 24 hour foundation, creating a bulletproof combination for your foundation.

Garnier Skin Active Clearly Brighter Sunscreen Anti-Sun Damage Daily Moisturizer:

The first time I ever tried this product was in 2016 Beautycon x Candee Johnson box and I have been OBSESSED ever since. Back then, my skin was super oily, and I was very hesitant to even use a moisturizer if I didn’t have the absolute dire need to. I felt as though all moisturizers just sat on top of my skin, making it even oilier, and I couldn’t find the right product to fit my skin care needs. I was even hesitant to try this product after receiving it, and I remember it sitting around for quite some time until I actually tried it. I found that it was lightweight and absorbed right into my skin with little effort, and was not in the least bit oily. I was super bummed because I thought that Garnier stopped making this product because I could no longer find it- I did an Amazon search and ordered what I thought was comparable to the original product. Turns out they had just changed the packaging, and I am one happy girl once more!

Garnier Skin Active Clearly Brighter Anti-Puff Eye Roller:

Dark, tired, under eye circles seem to run in the family, my dad, brother, and I all have the same problem, we look like we haven’t slept in days. During preparation for my wedding I tried numerous under eye creams, serums, and products to try and get rid of these dark circles, this one does the trick. I put it on under my eyes every night, faithfully, and it has SIGNIFICANTLY reduced the dark under eye circles. A good tip is to put it in a cool spot, such as a skin care fridge, and it feels so refreshing upon application. This product also lasts a very long time and is a great value for the price.

L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara:

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love trying new mascaras, however, the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Original is my number one go to. Any time I am in need of a new mascara, I find myself repurchasing this one. Not only does it give my lashes the volume boost I need, it is never flaky or clumpy, and the applicator is a dream, not too big, not too small, and packed with just the right amount of product. I have never experienced any smearing with this mascara, and the longevity of the wear time is incredible for a drug store product.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Multi-Use Concealer: I was first turned on to this product by YouTuber Tati Westbrook. The sponge applicator is amazing and goes on flawlessly. The right about of product comes out every time and the sponge never dries up or gets crusty. I have also seen many tutorials of people using this product in darker shades for easy contour as well. You can just dot it on your face (kind of like a bingo stamp) and blend it into your foundation. I have not used this for contour myself, however, I do plan to try it!

GlamGlow Supertoner: I am finding the older I get, my skin care needs have changed. What was once oily skin has now turned into dry and sometimes combination skin, and the GlamGlow products I used to love, such as the Supermud and the Youthmud masks, are just too harsh on my skin. The one product I have continued to replenish in my skin care stock is, however, the Supertoner. As with all GlamGlow products, they tend to be on the pricey side and the Supertoner is no exception, however, it works SO WELL, it is worth the price. It is described on the GlamGlow website as “An exfoliating acid and activated charcoal toner for acne-prone skin that instantly clarifies and unclogs pores for visibly clearer, smoother and more radiant skin.” I put this on to a cotton square and my face instantly feels minty, cool, and refreshed. This toner will get even the toughest bits of makeup and oil off of your face after a night out, even when you have used a makeup wipe and remover. Highly recommended!

No7 Radiance+ Daily Energising Exfoliating Cleanser: First, let me say that any of the products in the No7 Radiance+ line are amazing, but this one is a gem. This face wash is gentle while still exfoliating, smells like oranges, and leaves your skin looking brighter and smooth with a wonderful, refreshing clean feeling. Many exfoliating face washes feel as though you’ve completely stripped your skin, and the fragrance leaves your face feeling dry and tight-not this one. I switch up face washes regularly, according to my needs, and this one always remains in my arsenal.

Soap & Glory Face Soap and Clarity Vitamin C Facial Wash: I have been using this product for the past seven years and I don’t know that I will ever stop! This is my everyday, go to, face wash, and I had used it exclusively for many years. This product has been a game changer for me. The scent is so clean, the exfoliating beads are not too harsh, and it gives your face a cool and minty tingle after use. I have never experienced dryness or excessive oil production after use, and the value for the cost is amazing-this product lasts a very long time. If you are in the market for a go to, every day, face wash, I highly recommend going to your local Target or Walgreens and picking up a bottle. IT IS A GAME CHANGER.

Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Lightly Whipped Body Buttercream: This body butter will always be my number one go to body lotion. I have completely outgrown lotions that are too fragranced leaving your skin dry and parched. This body butter cream is thick, yet settles into the skin quickly, is not oily, and leaves your skin moisturized and feeling quenched. The smell is AMAZING, however, lasts ALL DAY, so if that is something you are sensitive to, I would advise you to buy with caution. However, the fragrance does not have the drying effect that body lotions such as Bath and Body Works products have due to the amount of alcohol used in production. Overall, the results are instant, and this product is a win in my book!

What are some of your ride or die products? Do you love or hate any of the products listed above? Recommendations? Leave them in the comments section, I would love to hear from you!
