Six Podcasts You Should Be Listening To

Oh, podcasts, where do I begin? Is it dramatic to say that listening to podcasts has not only given me hours of entertainment over the years, but also in a way saved my sanity? Probably. However, there is no exaggeration to the truth that they have. In my darkest of hours, whether it be a depressive episode, a bad day at work or to decompress I know I can throw on one of my favorite podcasts and instantly feel the relief of anxiety wash over me. Listening to podcasts has not only entertained me, but also educated me in subjects of the unknown or adding more factual information to a topic I thought I knew a lot about

I would like to honor some of those podcasts that have gotten me through my darkest times and hardest days by recommending them to you, my reader, in hopes that maybe you will get as much out of them as I do.

From upbeat and fun, to dark and macabre, to amazing stories told by those who lived them you are sure to find something that peeks your interest.

The Last Podcast On The Left:

Last Podcast on the Left barrels headlong into all things horror — as hosts Ben Kissel, Marcus Parks and Henry Zebrowski cover dark subjects spanning Jeffrey Dahmer, werewolves, Jonestown, iconic hauntings, the history of war crimes, and more. Whether it’s cults, killers, or cryptid encounters, Last Podcast on the Left laughs into the abyss that is the dark side of humanity.

No Dogs In Space- A Music History Podcast:

“On this first season, we’re taking a deep dive into the history of punk rock, told through the stories of ten bands who helped define the genre. On our first series, we cover the so-called godfathers of punk, The Stooges. Join us as we explore the early days of Iggy and the boys as the more innocent of their drug-fueled escapades as the band tries figuring out their voice in the midst of the ultimately empty peace and love movement,”

You Must Remember This:

“You Must Remember This is the podcast dedicated to exploring the secret and/or forgotten histories of Hollywood’s first century. The podcast was created and is written, produced and narrated by Karina Longworth.”

“Since launching as a passion project in April 2014, You Must Remember This has become one of the top film podcasts around. This podcast is a heavily-researched work of creative nonfiction. Every reasonable attempt is made at accuracy, but quite often when it comes to the kinds of stories we explore here, between conflicting reports, conscious and unconscious mythologizing and institutionalized spin, the truth is murky at best. That’s kind of what the podcast is, ultimately, about.”
